Why Do I Need To Seal Stamped Concrete
Sealing stamped concrete will help keep the color locked in. Sealers have protection from UV rays, which fade the colors in stamped concrete. Once a sealer wares off, usually in a few years, your concrete looses the protection. Once the sealer wares off, it leaves your concrete very porous and susceptible to staining. A sealed stamped concrete patio, driveway or pool deck will look the best for many years.
Another very important reason to seal is protection from freeze thaw spewing or breaking. We use a sealer that will make your concrete water resistant. This prevents water from entering the pores of the concrete and expanding during freezing temperatures. Here in Michigan, this is crucial.
Speaking of Michigan weather, sealing stamped concrete will also protect against salt damage. We still strongly recommend using a salt alternative that is recommended for use on concrete
Will Sealing My Stamped Concrete Make It Slippery
This is a great question. If you have stamped concrete around a pool, sealing it can cause it to be slippery especially if you want a high gloss. If your stamped concrete has a lot of texture to it, than sealing more than likely won’t make it slippery. We have anti slip additives that we can add to the sealer to help with slipperiness.

Can I Change The Color Of My Stamped Concrete
Many people ask ” can we change the color of our stamped concrete” and the answer is yes, we can completely change the color of your concrete with a product called cem-Coat. Cem-Coat is a high strength micro topping overlay that is opaque and can be used on regular concrete as well. All sealers have to be removed or worn off.

Have you been experiencing problems with the sealer on your stamped or exposed aggregate concrete. Has the sealer on your concrete appearing cloudy or discolored. We can sometimes solve the problem with chemicals but the chances are the cloudiness will return. The Best way to solve sealer issues is to strip the sealer. There are a couple methods, one is using stripping chemicals but this method is messy and not safe for your surrounding landscaping.
Our preferred way to strip sealer off decorative concrete is Wet Abrasive Blasting. Wet abrasive Blasting does no harm to your grass or shrubs but removes your sealer off your surface safely causing no harm to your concrete.
After we are completed stripping your sealer off. We add additional color with a product called antique it by brickform. We also will do any staining such as borders.
